Fresh New Start to Macmillan Dorset Bike Ride

There is a Fresh New Start to this year's Macmillan Dorset Bike Ride which takes place on Sunday 4th July. The 2010 Macmillan Charity ride will start from Corfe Mullen, and the opening 7 miles of the ride will take cyclists along some new lanes not included in the event before.  Ride Organiser Peter Smith-Nicholls said, "After 21 year's we were starting to outgrow our start area in Broadstone  so it was time to take a new look at the event and make a few improvements at the same time. I believe we really are offering something for all cycling abilities this year, from 10 miles to 100 miles there really is no excuse not to get on your bike."

With the move of the start venue some of the distances have been changed and some new places to explore have been added to the event. A new 10 mile ride for the young and not so young has been introduced, this ride will include some cycle paths, country lanes and local roads. The 20 mile ride will take cyclists through Charbough Park, the 38, 48, and 60 mile rides take in the Stour Valley, Winterborne Valley and many of Dorset's picturesque villages.

The improved Macmillan Dorset 100 ride now stretches further north west to include new villages not visited before.

The 22nd Macmillan Dorset Bike Ride is sponsored by Sunseeker International and supported by local cycle store Primera. All the usual support will be laid on for the cyclists, marshals, refreshments, and the post ride massage.

Once again this year joint sponsor Primera are donating a brand new bike for the 'Ride and Win' free draw. "It does not matter how far you ride or how much you raise everyone who rides has a chance to win the bike. This is another great reason to sign up for this year's event"  said Ride Organiser Peter Smith-Nicholls.
